The Humane Society of Polk County is gearing up for a series of holiday events to raise funds for the shelter. Organizers said they hope the events will not only bring in money to help cover the costs to run the shelter, but also give the organization more visibility in the community.

The Lincoln County Ag Society, a 15-member board responsible for the Lincoln County Fairgrounds and organizing the county's annual fair, will hold their board elections Nov. 18, beginning at 7 p.m., at the fairgrounds. Every year there are five board seats that come up for election on a rotating basis.
